The Ministry of Finance has officially announced an increase in the rate of Value Added Tax (VAT) from the initial 10% to 11% since Friday (1/4/2022). The increase in VAT also had an impact on the price of Honda motorcycles.
Previously, it was reported that the VAT adjustment to 11% was a mandate from Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning the Harmonization of Tax Regulations (UU HPP). Even so, the government still provides exemption from the 11% VAT rate on some goods and services. Including groceries or basic materials needed by the community.
However, the increase in VAT to 11% also had an impact on the price of Honda motorcycles. According to one of the sales at the Honda dealer, he said that the increase in the price of Honda motorcycles will take effect from April 1, 2022.
“As of April 1 onwards, the price of Honda motorcycles will increase in OTR (On the Road) prices in all units,” said the Honda salesperson when contacted by detikcom, Saturday (2/4/2022).
Furthermore, the salesperson said that the soaring price of Honda motorcycles was the effect of the government’s 11% increase in VAT.
“Because BBN and 11 percent VAT finally went up,” he said.

To confirm the news, the detikOto team then visited the Astra Honda Motor website to see the latest motorcycle prices as of April 2022. As a result, the price of Honda motorcycles did increase.
For example, Honda Genio experienced a significant price increase when compared to last March. Previously, the Honda Genio CBS was priced at IDR 18,050,000, but as of April 2022 the price reached IDR 18,530,000.
The price of the Honda Genio CBS-ISS model has also increased, previously this type was priced at Rp. 18,650,000. However, the OTR price for DKI as of April 2022 shows a figure of Rp. 19,125,000.
