2022 President’s Cup in Bandung Moved and Without Spectators

The 2022 President’s Cup Group C match in Bandung was moved and held without spectators. The West Java Regional Police recommended the change in the aftermath of the deaths of two supporters at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Friday (17/6) last week.

The West Java Police Chief through a letter of recommendation numbered B/Rek-3420/VI/YAN.2.1/2022/DIT IK on Monday (20/6) signed by the Director of Intelligence and Security Kombes Pol Ruslan Ependi asked for the match to be moved from the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium to Si Starling Harupat Stadium and held without spectators.

“Along with this, recommendations are made for the implementation of the preliminary round match activities in the context of the 2022-2023 Pre-Season Tournament with the President’s Cup title which will be held without spectators at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.”

Based on the recommendation letter from the West Java Police Chief, the Group C match between Bali United and Persebaya Surabaya on Monday (20/6) night at 20.30 WIB will be held at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.

The match between Bhayangkara FC and host Persib Bandung will also take place at Si Jalak Harupat on Tuesday (21/6) night.

Commissioner of PT Persib Bandung with dignity Umuh Muchtar as the person in charge was asked to ensure order and security of the match.

The letter was issued by the police following the death of two Persib supporters in the Persib match against Persebaya at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium. It is suspected that the fans who came were jostling and exceeding the specified capacity. (OL-4)
