Ahead of the match against North Macedonia, Ronaldo asks fans to fill the stadium

CRISTIANO Ronaldo urged Portugal fans to make their presence at Porto’s Dragao stadium on Tuesday (29/3). That match is crucial as Portugal host killer giants North Macedonia in a playoff tie that could seal a place in this year’s World Cup finals in Qatar.

North Macedonia made a big surprise last week by eliminating four-time World Cup winners Italy from the race for a place in the finals of the 32-team tournament.

Portugal asked Portugal supporters to make sure they did not suffer the same fate as Italy.

“I urge the fans: I want the atmosphere of hell to be unleashed on Dragao,” Ronaldo told a news conference Monday, referring to the relentless support of the crowd by making the whole stadium noisy with their support for Portugal.

“I went to bed last night imagining I wanted the stadium to turn off the music for our national anthem and let the fans sing it a cappella to show our passion, strength and our unity to reach the World Cup.”

“If our supporters show the way they can, we will win on Tuesday,” concluded the Manchester United striker. (OL-8)
