Allegri Calls Juventus vs Villarreal Second Leg Match Like Final

MASSIMILIANO Allegri likens the second leg of the Champions League last 16, which Juventus will play against Villarreal at the Allianz Stadium, Italy, like a final.

Therefore, Allegri expects a positive atmosphere from the Allianz Stadium public on Thursday (17/3) early morning WIB, which of course is needed by the Juventus squad to realize their ambition to go as far as possible in the Champions League this season.

“We must have ambitions to go as far as possible. Tomorrow is like a final at home, so there will definitely be a positive atmosphere,” Allegri said in pre-match comments quoted from the official UEFA website, Wednesday (16/3).

Allegri did not deny that the match would be tough, especially as Villarreal was able to get up in the first leg and make the aggregate situation temporarily draw 1-1, so he obliges the Juventus players to mobilize the best defense possible.

The 54-year-old tactician once praised the slick performance recently shown by Alvaro Morata and the excellent condition of the majority of Juventus players, but reminded that at this time his team had not proven anything.

“Morata is in a period of extraordinary form, and at the moment, almost all the players are also performing well. We are slowly getting closer, but have not achieved anything,” he said.

After the first leg match, last month, Morata is indeed in good form with a record of three goals and one assist for Juventus in the last three Serie A matches.

Meanwhile, Allegri’s comments regarding Juventus’ current achievements cannot be separated from the fact that his second tenor in the Old Lady’s camp did not look as smooth as his first tenor, which was decorated with many titles.

In Serie A, Juventus are still stuck in fourth place while currently they also have the advantage in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal against Fiorentina.

Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli called for his team-mates to remain careful and appear mature in the second leg.

“Villarreal are a strong team and play very well on the ball, so we have to stay alert and play mature. We will be ready,” he said.

“The Champions League is something different and exciting, but we have the right mentality.” (Ant/OL-1)
