SEVILLA missed the opportunity to stick to the leader of the standings Real Madrid after being held to a 1-1 draw by the host Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga match at the Estadio de Vallecas, Sunday (13/3).
This was the sixth draw in the last eight league games for the second-placed team in La Liga.
Julen Lopetegui’s side have 56 points from 28 matches or seven behind leaders Real Madrid who have one more game in hand and travel to Mallorca tomorrow Monday.
Third-placed Atletico Madrid have 51 points or five behind Sevilla and three ahead of Barcelona who have two games more.
“We attacked with a very negative sensation after a tough game which was even more difficult because the playing field was in terrible condition,” said Lopetegui.
Rayo took the lead early in the second half, in the 46th minute to be exact when Bebe netted a perfect shot from the edge of the box.
But Sevilla equalized through Thomas Delaney who found space in Rayo’s box to score with a perfect shot into the bottom corner of the net in the 63rd minute. (OL-8)
