Barcelona not interested in bringing Messi back

Barcelona president Joan Laporta insists his team are not interested in bringing back Lionel Messi, who left for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last summer. The Argentine is rumored to be returning to Barcelona after a difficult period at PSG.

Laporta admitted that he did not communicate directly with the player and did not see the PSG striker as an option for him Blaugrana.

“I did not receive a message from Messi or his camp about a possible return to Barcelona. From today, we will not raise this issue,” said Laporta.

“I no longer have the smooth communication with Messi as I did before he left. His passing almost made me feel worse for personal and family reasons than just sport.”

Laporta explained, his current projection is to build Barcelona with young players for regeneration which takes precedence over sending Messi back to Camp Nou.

“We are not considering (Messi’s return). We are building a new team, with a mix of young and experienced players – the symbiosis is working well. But Leo is Leo and he will always be a winner,” Laporta said.

“For me it was definitely not easy (for him to leave), but when it happened I thought about the club (finances), I couldn’t put him at greater risk. I think we did what we had to do.” (Mal/Goal/OL-09)
