The coach of Italian Serie A club Bologna, Sinisa Mihajlovic will return to hospital to undergo treatment for leukemia again after scans showed a risk of relapse. This was said by the Serbian coach, Saturday (26/3).
The 53-year-old, who has been battling the severe disease since 2019. He underwent three cycles of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant during his first battle with the disease.
“My recovery after the transplant (bone marrow in 2019) was very good, but unfortunately, the disease is sneaky,” Mihajlovic told reporters.
“From the latest analysis, some red flags have emerged and there may be a risk of the disease reoccurring. To prevent this from happening, I was advised to go through therapy. This time I won’t be making a sliding tackle like I did two and a half years ago on my opponent. who ran away. I will start first,” he added.
Mihajlovic took charge of Bologna in 2018 when the team was stuck in the relegation zone and made a remarkable transformation as he led them to 10th place. Bologna are 12th in the last two Serie A seasons and are currently in the same position with 33 points after 12 games. (Ant/OL-15)
