Boucha Karkoubi, First Female Referee to Lead Final Match

Moroccan referee Boucha Karkoubi will become the first woman in the Arab world to officiate in the men’s soccer final on Saturday (14/5).

The police personnel will take charge of the Moroccan Cup final, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the city of Agadir.

The Moroccan Football Federation, in an official statement, said Karkoubi made history in the Arab world.

Karkoubi had served in major tournaments. He was the video referee in the Africa Cup of Nations final match between Senegal and Egypt, last February.

The 34-year-old referee has been an international referee since 2016 and is the first woman to officiate in a top-flight Moroccan league match.
