Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes believes his compatriot, Cristiano Ronaldo, will stay at Old Trafford this summer.
Ronaldo scored 24 goals and three assists in 38 appearances for Manchester United throughout the 20212-2022 season. However, this achievement was not enough to bring the Red Devils to success. Manchester United ended the English Premier League in sixth place and failed to win a single trophy.
Speculation surrounding the future of the 37-year-old Portugal captain has emerged as Manchester United’s transfer activity has been sluggish. Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Sporting Lisbon, AS Roma and Inter Miami are among the clubs linked with Ronaldo, whose contract with Manchester United only has a year remaining.
“Cristiano Ronaldo situation? I spoke with him a few weeks ago, so I hope to meet him on the fourth day for pre-season training, and nothing else”, Fernandes told Portuguese media, Record, Thursday (30/6).
“I don’t think Manchester United opened the door to losing a top resource like Cristiano,” he added.
Manchester United have not brought in any new players in the transfer market this summer. However, there are at least three names that are expected to join Erik ten Hag’s squad, namely Frenkie de Jong (Barcelona), Tyrell Malacia (Feyenoord), and Antony (Ajax). (Goal/OL-15)
