Draw with Chelsea, the Red Devils door to the Champions League is practically closed

THE DOOR for Manchester United to appear in the Champions League next season is practically closed. Facing Chelsea in their 35th Premier League appearance this season, Friday (29/4), the Red Devils were only able to gain one point.

Playing at Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo and colleagues were only able to force a 1-1 result. Left behind by Marcos Alonso’s goal who used Kai Havertz’s bait in the 60th minute, Manchester United ensured a point through Ronaldo’s goal in the 62nd minute.

This result leaves Manchester United, who lost their previous two games to Liverpool and Arsenal, still in sixth place with 55 points. While Chelsea is in third position with 66 points from 33 matches.

Manchester United will gain a maximum of 64 points at the end of the season with a clean sweeping record of the remaining three games of this season. This makes the chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season practically closed.

The reason is, Arsenal, which is now in fourth position which is the last position to qualify for the Champions League, is now five points ahead. However, Arsenal have a great opportunity to stay away because they have a two-match advantage. (OL-15)
