Enchantment of Arborek, The Cleanest Tourist Village in West Papua

Arborek Tourism Village has been nominated for the 2021 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Interestingly, Arborek is the cleanest village in West Papua.

The location is in Meos Mansar District, Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua. The distance is about 3-4 hours from Sorong City, then continue using a speed boat for approximately two hours.

Quoted from the Tourism Village Board (Jadesta) website from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Arborek has an area of โ€‹โ€‹7.2 hectares with a population of 44 families. Most of the population make a living as fishermen and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.

Well, another attraction is the residents who are very aware of cleanliness and uphold the existing conservation values. In 2017, this village won the 1st place award for the cleanest village in the province of West Papua, and also won the ISTA award from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2017 as a village that utilizes the values โ€‹โ€‹of environmental awareness and tourism to support the community’s economy. Meanwhile, in 2018, ISTA awarded him the title of one of the Cultural Villages.
