COACH Erik ten Hag admits he can’t wait to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo to the Manchester United squad. However, the Dutch coach did not know exactly when the Portuguese star could join.
Ronaldo did not follow the Red Devils’ pre-season agenda for personal reasons. This further strengthens the suspicion that the Portugal national team captain will leave Old Trafford.
However, Ten Hag did not budge Ronaldo will survive next season. Ten Hag said he wanted to see how the 37-year-old striker played in his concoction tactics.
“I’m focused on the players who are here and they are doing very well. They are in good form and I have to focus more on that and improve on that.” I can’t wait for Ronaldo to come back and then we will integrate him.”
The likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes have been brilliant in pre-season so far and Ronaldo is believed to be adding to their explosive power.
“Together, they are very well connected. When you see things like that, you are lucky as a manager, we have a threat, have weapons and have to improve every day, to develop,” he said.
Ronaldo’s future with Manchester United has been in doubt since revealing his desire to leave the club ahead of the 2022-2023 season. Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with him, but so far there have been no negotiations or even a move for the former Real Madrid and Juventus man.
However, Ten Hag has made it clear that Ronaldo will not be sold and even hinted that he could stay with the Red Devils until the end of the 2022-2023 season. (Goal/OL-15)
