MARC Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta score in the first half of Crystal Palace’s 4-0 win over Everton in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Selhurst Park, Sunday (20/3)
Everton started the game better by creating a number of chances in the first 20 minutes. But soon the home team took control.
They then booked a semi-final place as Wilfried Zaha and Will Hughes also scored as the game entered the final stages.
It was the first time Palace had beaten Everton twice in the same season as the Merseysides failed to capitalize on the foundations of a league win over Newcastle United on Thursday (17/3)
Now Everton must concentrate on fighting to avoid relegation in the English Premier League.
Palace took the lead in the 25th minute when Everton couldn’t keep up the good guard against a corner that saw Guehi head home a dangerous cross from Michael Olise.
Palace scored a second when Eberechi Eze and Zaha worked together to get Matete off a low finish four minutes before the break.
The third goal was scored in an odd fashion as Olise’s mis-targeted shot hit the post for Zaha to tip, before Hughes equalized from the rebound after Jordan Pickford made a brilliant save that denied Conor Gallagher. (OL-8)
