Exco PSSI: Accelerating Outbreaks for Humanity

PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) MEMBER Hasani Abdulgani acknowledged that there was pressure on his party to accelerate the implementation of the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) for the election of new PSSI officials.

“There is definitely pressure, but it’s not pressure like at gunpoint,” Hasani told ANTARA in Jakarta, today.

He emphasized that the pressure came from the situation and not from certain parties.

The bloody incident at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, which killed 135 people and injured hundreds of others, put PSSI in a position to do something in the name of humanity.

This is what made Exco PSSI decided to hold an election KLB earlier than the normal time, namely November 2023.

“As humans, we are saddened by this incident. Therefore, we (Exco PSSI-ed) think, rather than waiting until our working period ends in November 2023, it is better to hurry up so that the atmosphere subsides. This outbreak is done for humanity,” said Hasani .

PSSI decided to accelerate the implementation of the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) for the election of the general chairman and new members of the Exco, which would normally be held in November 2023, after holding an emergency meeting on Friday (28/10) night at the PSSI Office, Jakarta.

The pressure on PSSI to immediately hold an outbreak initially came from the Joint Independent Fact Finding Team (TGIPF) which was formed by the Indonesian government following the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium.

TGIPF, in the document issued on October 14, 2022, recommended that the PSSI Exco ranks, including PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan, resign as a form of moral responsibility for the hundreds of victims, both dead and injured, due to the events that occurred at the Kanjuruhan Stadium. .

To that end, the team chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD proposed that PSSI carry out the KLB in order to elect new Exco members, which included the general chairman and deputy general chairman.

The PSSI election KLB is planned to be held in March 2023. (Ant/OL-4)
