THREE Sehrou Guirassy goals gave Rennes a massive 6-1 win over Metz in Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash, which saw them overtake Strasbourg in fourth place after Strasbourg were forced to draw by Lorient.
Playing at home at Roazhon Park Stadium, Rennes beat the visitors from any angle and were already 3-0 up in the first half alone.
Martin Terrier scored twice in the space of 9 minutes, in the 18th minute of the penalty and the 27th, before Guirassy closed the first half 3-0 in the 40th minute.

Guirassy then scored two more goals in the second half to create a hat-trick with his goals in the 54th and 64th minutes. Another Rennes goal was scored by Hamari Traore in the 58th minute.
Louis Mafouta scored a consolation goal for Metz in the 87th minute.
The situation is different for Strasbourg, who were knocked out of fourth position, after being held to a 0-0 draw by hosts Lorient, who are still unable to escape the threat of relegation.
Meanwhile, the hosts who are also bottom of the table Bordeaux were unable to overcome Montepellier’s 2-0 advantage even though the visitors had played with 9 players throughout the second half.
Montpellier led 2-0 from the 16th minute thanks to two goals in five minutes from Sepe Elye Wahi in the 11th minute and Florent Mollet in the 16th.
Disaster struck Montpellier in the 39th minute when Nicolas Cozza was shown a red card and then another for Mihailo Ristic in the 45+6 minute.
However, Bordeaux could not take advantage of the advantages of two players so that Montpellier was increasingly sticky in the middle board.
Meanwhile at Stade Raymond-Kopa, host Angers won 1-0 over Brest thanks to a goal from the penalty spot which was made by Sofiane Boufal in the 39th minute. (Ant/OL-1)
