Harry Kane’s penalty seals Spurs’ win over Burnley

TOTTENHAM Hotspur won 1-0 at home to Burnley in the 37th Premier League match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday (15/5). Harry Kane’s penalty late in the first half helped Spurs take all three points.

This victory moved Tottenham up to 4th place with 68 points, two points ahead of Arsenal in 5th place. While Burnley are ranked 18th with 34 points, two points behind Leeds who are outside the relegation zone.

Entertaining Burnley, Spurs immediately pressed from the early minutes. Harry Kane came close to scoring in the third minute, which unfortunately caught Sessegnon’s cross in front of goal and was saved by goalkeeper Nick Pope.

In the first 10 minutes, Spurs locked Burnley and the visitors tried to hold on tight. Spurs had a golden opportunity in the 13th minute, Kane headed home Lucas Moura’s cross in front of goal. However, Pope returns to the rescue.

After continuing to confine the Burnley defense, Spurs were finally able to score in the final minutes of the first half. The referee points to the spot after a Burnley player touches the ball with his hand in the forbidden city.

Harry Kane stepped forward as the penalty taker and kicked the ball into the right corner of the goal until Pope did not move. The first half ended with a 1-0 advantage for the Spurs.

In the second half, the Spurs returned to play attacking and pressing the visitors’ defense. However, until the game ended, the score 1-0 did not change. (Ant/OL-15)
