Honeywell Zone Valve Not Working. Tested and not working so some thing must need to be done with. I need to replace the head on my honeywell 2 port zone valve for dhw.

Valve is not responding to thermostat. A failed motor will prevent the motorised valve from opening but it is not the only cause of a valve failing to open correctly. Pipes at head, and valve itself are cool.

We were taught to completely remove the zone valve motor and electrical parts while sweating the zone valve to the heating system piping but even so overheating can damage the zone valve moving. After years of use, the o rings sealing the valve spindle (or actuator shaft) can fail.

If the zone opens but the relay does not pull in, jump out the end switch on the zone valve. Old head has 5 wires new head has 6 (white being the difference).

If room thermostat is not satisfied then 240v at point 5 (as thermostat switch is closed), this should open the valve. You will be able to know precisely when the assignments needs to be finished, that makes it easier for you personally to properly.

Originally fitted ( honeywell zone valve with single pole microswitch i changed the microswitch so that on making the open limit it then maintained its position through a changeover microswitch with a diode in series the idea of this was to drop the voltage to the motor in the open position while still holding the valve open, it did work, i did however feel at the time that it may. Valve is not responding to thermostat. When power is applied, the motor should open the zone valve.

Put your test leads across them and force the valve open manually, quickly and all the way, and as the internal mechanism gets to fully open you will see a zero ohm reading briefly before the mechanism starts to close. All of the valves, whether heat is being called for or not, seem to slide without resistance.
If Room Thermostat Is Not Satisfied Then 240V At Point 5 (As Thermostat Switch Is Closed), This Should Open The Valve.
If the relay pulls in, replace the end switch or the head. Listen to hear if the zone valve is making noise, or is making too much noise, and not opening the valve. Do not grip valve head while making and tightening up plumbing connections.
