So you will need to remove the cover over the flywheel to find the tdc marks for the front and rear cylinders and make sure you turn the crank over to the correct tdc mark before you do any vavle adjustments.then turn the crank over again to do the valve adjustments for the other cylinder. If you have most or all of the symptoms above then you can deduce that a valve adjustment is probably needed, but you really needed to check to see if the clearances are in or out of factory given specifications. The only way to know for sure if your dirt bike needs a valve adjustment is to check the valve clearance.

Doubt they changed it that much for the 2005s. Generally the exhaust valves will be on the tighter end of the spectrum compared to the intakes ( my intakes were spot on at 6000 miles but the exhausts were at the minimum end of the spec) as they see more heat.

My guess is a partially blocked pilot jet. Generally, compression/leakdown checks only show mechanical wear of rings or valve damage.
