It turns out that Ronaldo refuses to play when the Red Devils face Tottenham

ANSWER is the reason why Cristiano Ronaldo was not played by Manchester United against Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, Thursday (20/10) at Old Trafford.

Apparently, the Portugal national team captain refused to be played by coach Erik ten Hag in the match. “Yes,” replied ten Hag shortly when asked if Ronaldo refused to play against Tottenham.

In a match that ended 2-0 for the Red Devils’ victory, Ronaldo only warmed the bench until the game was over. The 37-year-old forward received negative attention after leaving his seat to return to the dressing room before the final whistle. Ronaldo is also said to have left the stadium early instead of celebrating the victory with his team-mates.

As a result of this act, Manchester United suspended Ronaldo for one game and trained with the Under-21 team before the five-time Ballon d’Or winner released an apology on social media.

“I told him that [sikap] it is unacceptable. This is the second time and there are consequences for it. This will be a time for reflection for him, as well as for all the players. I said at the start of the season, next time there will be consequences if you live together and play together. Football is a team sport and you have to meet certain standards. Meanwhile I have to control it,” he added.

Ronaldo will likely not be in the Manchester United squad against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Saturday (22/10) night. (Goal/OL-15)
