LIVERPOOL, who have already qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, want to look at the last Group A match against Napoli without a burden. Avenge the defeat in the first meeting will be the mission of the Reds.
A 3-0 victory over Ajax Amsterdam on matchday five was enough to ensure a ticket for Liverpool in the last 16 phase. Now they are eyeing the group winners position when they host Napoli at Anfield in the last match, Wednesday (2/11) early morning.
“The last game against Napoli was a big disappointment for us. To be beaten by goal difference (1-4) made it very difficult for us, but we will play loose later. Many magical things have happened at Anfield,” said Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson.
In Group A, both Napoli and Liverpool have already confirmed their ticket to the knockout phase and are just fighting for the group winners position. Napoli are three points ahead of Liverpool with 15 points.
Liverpool have the opportunity to shift Napoli’s position at the top of the standings if they win. However, that effort will not be easy considering the 1-4 defeat in the first meeting. If they want to top the group, the Reds must win by at least four goals.
“It’s never easy going into the last game that requires points or wins. In the group phase we went through it several times. So it’s always satisfying to qualify (for the round of 16) with one game left. So that’s a positive thing,” said Robertson. (UEFA/OL-13)
