Mandalika Absent from MotoGP Pre-season Test Schedule

In 2022, Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit will be one of the circuits that will hold a MotoGP pre-season test. Next year, Mandalika will not be included in the temporary pre-season test schedule released by MotoGP.

MotoGP through its official website has released provisional dates for pre-season testing of the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 classes ahead of the 2023 season. There is no name for the Mandalika Circuit which will hold the 2023 pre-season test.

Based on the temporary schedule, the Mandalika Circuit was replaced with Portimo, Portugal. In 2023, pre-season tests will be conducted in Sepang, Malaysia and Portimao, Portugal.

The Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia will first host the Shakedown Test, which is only for MotoGP factory and entry-level test riders. The Shakedown Test was conducted from 5 to 7 February.

The Sepang Circuit will then host the first three-day MotoGP test from 10 to 12 February.

If in 2022 after Sepang the drivers test at Mandalika, the 2023 season from Sepang the drivers will do a pre-season test at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, Portugal. Portimao, which acts as the opener for the 2023 season, will host a final two-day test for MotoGP riders and teams. The MotoGP pre-season tests in Portugal took place on March 11 and 12.

Here’s the complete schedule for the MotoGP pre-season test:

– Shakedown Test: 5 – 7 February

– Sepang test: 10 – 12 February

– Portimao test: 11 – 12 March

Moto2 and Moto3 pre-season tests will also take place at Portimo. The Moto2 and Moto3 pre-season tests at Portimao will take place from 17-19 March 2022.
