Marc Marquez hopes that Honda will make big changes to the RC213V next season. At least there are several things highlighted by ‘The Baby Aliens’ so that Honda motorbikes can return to compete with Ducati and Yamaha.
Throughout the 2022 season, Honda’s performance in MotoGP has been poor. Plus, Marquez had to miss six races after the Mugello series due to struggling with injuries.
The three other Honda riders arguably didn’t help much to add to the coffers of points. Pol Espargaro, Takaaki Nakagami, and also Alex Marquez compactly complained about the performance of the Honda RC213V motorbike.
Lastly, in the Valencia series, not a single Honda racer made it to the top 10. Marquez and Pol Espargaro fell. The best finish was achieved by Nakagami who finished the race in 14th position, while Alex Marquez was in 17th position. So that it doesn’t happen again next season, Marquez said that there must be changes in the engine sector.
“The engine is important, if you only record half of 1/10 on the straight, you can brake earlier and don’t have to take a lot of risks. To be able to do that, we have to make a lot of changes when braking on the straight,” explained Marquez quoted by Speedweek.
“We also have to improve the speed in the corner. Now we exit the corner too slowly, but the problem appears immediately entering the corner. If you turn too late or too slow, automatically you lose corner exit speed. We saw that we were fast on a circuit where there are not many straight stops. like Phillip Island and Valencia. Yesterday all weekend we lost a lot of time in the first sector because there was a braking area before corner 1 and corner 2. The rest in other sectors we were very competitive,” continued Marquez.

Stefan Bradl had previously made this complaint, who was replacing Marquez at the time. Bradl said Honda’s performance in corners was lousy and it was difficult to compete with other racers.
“We Honda riders have to use up so much physical energy that it drains us quickly. Our bike is very difficult to ride at the moment. But that’s nothing new, we have to fix this situation immediately,” Bradl said last June.
