Mitchell and Walker-Peters called up to the England squad


Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters were called up to the England squad for the first time after Aaron Aaron Ramsdale, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James and Tammy Abraham were ruled out through injury.

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins were also called up for the Three Lions for friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford and Manchester City’s Kyle Walker have not been called up by Gareth Southgate after all three were dropped last week.

Mitchell was called up after guiding Palace to the FA Cup semi-finals. Walker-Peters has performed well this season, scoring three goals in 28 appearances for Southampton. (AFP/OL-1)
