Morata scores two goals, Juventus beat Sampdoria


Alvaro Morata’s TWO goals helped Juventus beat Sampdoria with a score of 3-1 in the matchday 29 of Serie A at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium, Sunday (13/3) early morning WIB.

Juventus took a two-goal lead in the first half through Maya Yoshida’s own goal and Alvaro Morata’s penalty. Sampodria pulled one back through Abdelmid Sabiri’s second-half goal before Morata sealed Juventus’ victory a few minutes later.

The victory made Juventus further establish themselves in fourth place in the standings with 56 points from 29 matches, while Sampdoria are still in 16th place with 26 points.

Both teams played cautiously in the first 15 minutes.

Juventus scored in the 23rd minute. Juan Cuadrado crosses off through the counter-attack scheme. The ball went to the far post, but Maya Yoshida was able to cut the ball into his own net. Score 1-0 for the visitors.

Sampdoria tried to find a goal back as quickly as possible. Stefano Sensi then had a great chance in the 31st minute when he fired home from inside the box but the ball was stopped by Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Juventus were awarded a penalty after Omar Colley fouled Moise Kean. Morata advanced as executor and successfully brought Juventus a 2-0 lead in the 34th minute.

The advantage lasted until the first half was over.

After halftime, Sampdoria started to trouble Juventus in the first ten minutes of the second half.

Marco Giampaolo’s men aggressively launched attacks from the sidelines, but were thwarted by the Juventus defence.

Juventus had a golden opportunity in the 57th minute through Kean. The Everton loanee failed to take advantage of the opportunity that was in sight when the ball from close range was able to be blocked by goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone.

Sampdoria were awarded a penalty in the 74th minute after Adrien Rabiot had a handball. However, Candreva failed to carry out his duties after his shot was saved by Szczesny.

Sampdoria finally could reduce the score in the 84th minute. Abdelhamid Sabiri scored with a free kick, after the released ball hit the live fence and outwit Szczesny. The score becomes 2-1.

Morata ensured Juventus’ victory in the 88th minute. The Spanish striker scored the second goal after meeting Manuel Locatelli’s cross with a header. The match ended in a 3-1 win for Juventus. (Ant/OL-1)
