Mourinho Celebrates UEFA Conference League Title With Emotions

JOSE Mourinho said he and AS Roma had succeeded in making history after winning the first event of the UEFA Conference League, Thursday (26/5) early morning WIB.

The UEFA Conference League title is AS Roma’s first European competition title in history.

Mourinho couldn’t hold back his tears when AS Roma beat Feyenoord in the final of their European tournament in three decades. The Portuguese coach also still looks emotional after the award ceremony for the championship trophy.

Roma fans have fallen in love with Mourinho despite Il Lupo’s ups and downs, which ended in a 1-0 win over Feyenoord at Tirana that ended a 14-year title drought for the Serie A club.

“I have been in Rome for 11 months. I have known since I arrived here how much this means to the fans. They have been waiting for a moment like this,” said Mourinho.

“This is not just a game but history. We managed to make history,” he continued.

The UEFA Conference League title was Mourinho’s fifth European title and made him the first coach to ever win all European competition titles.

Mourinho then confirmed he will stay at AS Roma next season to continue the good work in his debut season.

“I will stay, no doubt,” said Mourinho.

“We will see what our owners want next season because this is a historic moment.”

“Right now, I’m going on vacation, sitting on the beach and not thinking about football.” (AFP/OL-1)
