I dont know where to buy the parts and what parts i should be buying. The last one i did using a oem bmw vcg kit, used brake cleaner to clean oil off, used rtv in correct places, made sure half moons were seated properly, replaced all grommets, and torqued cover to spec @ 89 in ibs but after a 10 mile drive oil is continuing to seap out behind the block and in front.

Delivered 525i and 530i models (which switched to the n52 engine around october of 2004) were delivered with a lightweight magnesium valve cover with single use aluminum bolts anchoring it to the engine. (over torqueing the valve cover bolts will damage the gasket and will cut the edges of the gasket) torque more will not stop the leak.

Hey pelican parts just wrapped up my third valve cover gasket change. The n52 engine was assembled with two different valve covers, depending on the year and the model of the e60 5 series.

I torqued the original bolts back down in a z pattern to make sure the valve cover was torque evenly on the cylinder head. Worked perfectly for mine so it should for yours as well.

Bmws tis manual recommends 9nm or torque on the valve cover bolts. The n52kp and n51 use the same basic design to accommodate the vvt motor and new crankcase ventilation system.

Leaks, burning oil, and dirty oil are all signs that your valve cover could be to blame. You dont have to remove injectors.

While the n52 uses a magnesium cylinder head cover, the new engines use a plastic cover. Removing them will make the process easier though.

Below is a list of the tools we used to replace the n54 valve cover gasket. Once the valve cover is in place, go around the perimeter and make sure the gasket is still in place.

Make Sure The Valve Cover Gasket Is Not Damaged Or Cut During Unpacking.
