PERSIJA managed to catch up with one goal to frustrate PSM Makassar with a score of 3-1 in the 2021-2022 Indonesian League 1 continued match at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Stadium, Denpasar, Bali, Monday (21/3)
PSM took the lead through Yakob Sayuri, while Persija secured the win thanks to goals from Makan Konate, Irfan Jauhari and Taufik Hidayat.
In that match, Persija again benched their most fertile striker this season, Marko Simic. Right-back Marco Motta was not revealed from the start.
Persija coach chose to field U-23 players in their position, namely Taufik Hidayat and Ilham Rio Fahmi.
Meanwhile, PSM still relied on Willem Jan Pluim and Yakob Sayuri’s speed from the start of the match. England defender, Adam Mitter, reserve status.
With such a composition, PSM appeared to hit the ground running from the first minute. The result, in a counter-attack, the team nicknamed Juku Eja managed to score a goal via Yakob Sayuri in the 15th minute.

After halftime, Persija did not reduce the tension of the match. In the 59th minute, the third goal came via Taufik Hidayat’s header. This goal originated from a dead ball situation which was executed by Syahrian Abhimanyu.
After that, both teams both created several chances to bring in additional goals, but the score did not change. Persija closed the match with a 3-1 victory over PSM.
The victory made Persija move up to seventh position in the Indonesian Liga 1 standings this season with a collection of 44 points from 32 matches.
Meanwhile, PSM is stuck in 13th place after collecting 35 points from 32 matches. This situation has not made PSM safe from the threat of degradation. (OL-8)
