PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has started using new and renewable energy (EBT) by installing roof solar panels at its factory. The electricity source is also used to support motorcycle production activities.
Since 2014 until now, as many as 18,270 solar panel modules have been installed on the roof of the AHM Karawang factory and AHM Cikarang factory. In addition to the two factories, solar panels are also installed at the AHM Safety Riding & Training Center Deltamas, West Java.
All of the installed solar panels have a system capacity of 8,760 kWp and are capable of producing 9,477,077 kWh of electricity per year. AHM claims this is equivalent to reducing 8,246 tons of CO2 emissions per year towards cleaner and more sustainable energy use.

GM General Affairs AHM Merry Heryana said all the power generated was channeled and used for the main activities of the production process and production support activities. Utilization of solar panels as one of the company’s EBT sources in the future.
“We continue to strive and innovate in utilizing renewable energy to implement ESG and realize the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) program,” Merry said in a statement quoted on Sunday (10/30/2022).
The solar panel operating system at AHM is of the On Grid type with a photovoltaic system capable of transforming sunlight into electrical energy. Furthermore, the electrical energy produced will be distributed in parallel and synchronized to various company activities that require electrical energy.
By implementing Solar Photovoltaic which is supported by advanced and modern technology, AHM also contributes to reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and the threat of climate change in line with the implementation of the company’s Green Energy culture.
