PARIS Saint-Germain (PSG) picked up a convincing 3-0 victory when they hosted the bottom team, Bordeaux in the 28th week of the French League at the Parc des Princes on Sunday (13/3).
PSG’s winning goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Leandro Paredes. Argentine superstar Lionel Messi played a role in the process of creating all three goals.
PSG now leads the French League standings with a collection of 65 points from 25 matches. They are 15 points ahead of their nearest competitor, Nice, who is in second place.
Meanwhile, Bordeaux slumped further down the table after only collecting 22 points from 28 matches.
When the game has not even walked one minute, the PSG goal is already threatened. Bordeaux midfielder, Remi Oudin launched a long-range shot that led right into the goal guard Keylor Navas. However, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper was able to parry the ball to produce a corner kick.
Bordeux continued their threat through the corner kick. Junior Onana greeted the ball with a header that went to the far post, but if it was still wide on the right side of the goal, Navas looked dead.
After several threats from Bordeaux, then PSG began to build their attack.
In the 24th minute, PSG could take the lead through the action of Kylian Mbappe. The French striker found the net after using Georginio Wijnaldum’s pass. The score became 1-0.
Argentine superstar Lionel Messi was also involved in this goal process. He cleverly passed the ball to Georginio Wijnaldum who later became the assist of Mbappe’s goal.
There were no additional goals until the first half ended.
In the second half, PSG performed better and were able to score two goals.
The second goal for PSG was created in the 52nd minute. Messi split the Bordeaux defense with a through ball to Achraf Hakimi who overlapped on the right side of PSG. After that, Hakimi passed the ball to Neymar who was standing free in front of goal before beating Gaettan Poussin. The score becomes 2-0.
PSG increased their advantage in the 61st minute through Leandro Paredes’ goal. He scored after taking advantage of the chaos in front of the Bordeaux goal. The score becomes 3-0.
The Parisian club could not add to their lead in the remainder of the game and they are entitled to pocket the three points. (OL-8)
