PSSI outbreak in accordance with TGIPF recommendations

CHAIRMAN of the Joint Fact-Finding Investigation Team (TGIPF) of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy Mahfud MD stated that the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) was in accordance with TGIPF’s recommendations.

“It is appropriate indeed, very precisely, it is so in order to speed up the Extraordinary Congress,” said Mahfud during a working visit in East Java, Saturday (29/10).

According to him, all TGIPF recommendations have been implemented by President Joko Widodo. Starting from the improvement of order, security, to the renovation of the entire stadium.

“All recommendations from TGIPF have been implemented,” he added, who also serves as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

His party has many recommendations regarding the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang and will not interfere in PSSI’s affairs. However, his party reminded that PSSI has a legal and moral responsibility for the tragedy.

“For legal responsibility, all criminal elements are being explored. Meanwhile, if you have a heart, you have to step down, that’s all. However, moral responsibility cannot be forced,” said Mahfud.

PSSI decided to speed up the implementation of the KLB, after holding an emergency Exco meeting at the PSSI Office, Jakarta, on Friday (28/10) yesterday.

“We will start the KLB stages from sending a notification letter to FIFA, which contains a congress proposal,” said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan.

Furthermore, he explained the reason for PSSI to speed up the outbreak, which normally takes place in November 2023, namely to prevent divisions among members. (Ant/OL-11)
