RB Leipzig rejects €80 million offer for Gvardiol from Manchester City

German Bundesliga CLUB, RB Leipzig have turned down a tempting offer from Manchester City, for their young defender, Josko Gvardiol. No half-hearted, Manchester City dared to pay 80 million euros in order to bring the 20-year-old player to the Etihad Stadium.

Gvardiol has many fans this summer, following his brilliant performance with Leipzig last season. He made 44 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions, registering two goals and three assists. Gvardiol is considered successful in replacing the role of Dayot Upamecano, who left for Bayern Munich in the heart of the Leipzig defense. For his performance, a number of big European clubs have been eyeing him, one of which is Manchester City.

Reportedly, Leipzig ignored the offer and closed the Croatian player’s exit door. In fact, that number is already very high for a defender who is 20 years old.

The numbers pushed by Manchester City will make Leipzig a big profit. The reason is, when bringing Gvardiol from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2021, Leipzig only spent 18 million euros.

Apart from Manchester City, other English Premier League clubs, Chelsea are also reportedly interested in using the services of Gvardiol. However, the offer from the Blues is quite different from what The Citizen did.

The London club included Timo Werner’s name in the deal. Leipzig is of course not a foreign club to Werner, considering that he had defended Die Bullen for four years before finally moving to Stamford Bridge in 2020. However, until now there has been no official offer from Chelsea to Leipzig for the transfer of Gvardiol. (Goal/OL-15)
