Relegated, Persipura let go of foreign players and coaches

CHAIRMAN of Persipura Jayapura Benhur Tomi Mano revealed that his club had released foreign players and coach Angel Alfredo Vera after Persipura were relegated from Liga 1 Indonesia.

Three foreign players who strengthen Persipura are Yven Bhogasvili, Ramiro Fergonsi, and Takuya Matsunaga. Doni H Monim is a local Persipura player who resigned from the pride team of the Papuan people.

“All players have stated that they will stay at Persipura except for Doni Monim and we will fight to return,” said Benhur, Tuesday (5/4).

The Mayor of Jayapura apologized to the entire community for the degradation of Persipura from League 1.

“For sure, we will fight for Persipura to return to League 1 and be on par with other big teams in Indonesia,” said Benhur.

He revealed that the management had appointed Yan P Mandenas as Persipura manager to replace Bento Manubun.

Persipura failed to survive in League 1 because Mutiara Hitam’s position was below Barito Putera in the Liga 1 standings for the 2021-2022 season. (Ant/OL-1)
