Rossi’s era in MotoGP ends after the appearance of Marc Marquez

The great MotoGP legend of the early 2000s, Marco Melandri says, era Valentino Rossi in the motorcycle racing championship has ended since the appearance of its competitors, Marc Marquez. According to him, the younger and more energetic Marquez has taken over the main spotlight in MotoGP.

Rossi was a central figure in MotoGP for many years. He managed to become consecutive world champions in the 2001-2005 season and added two other titles in 2008-2009.

Meanwhile, Marc Marquez, who made his debut in the premier class in the 2013 season, immediately grabbed the title in his first year. It didn’t stop there, he then succeeded in stealing Rossi’s stage by winning five more titles in the following seasons.

Unfortunately, Marquez’s ‘crazy’ performance had to end due to a number of injuries that had smothered him for the last two seasons. In addition to the arms, he also has vision problems. Now, he is starting to rarely win in competitions.

However, this brilliant achievement received appreciation from Marco Melandri. The 250cc class champion in the 2002 season judged that Marquez had succeeded in ruining Rossi’s glorious era in MotoGP.

“Marquez ended the Valentino Rossi era (in MotoGP) and opened the way for other riders,” Melandir said, quoted by detikOto from Crash, Saturday (10/29/2022).

Not only that, according to Melandri, Marquez has managed to repeat Rossi’s great achievements in MotoGP. In fact, they both have a number of things in common.

“In many ways Marc is like Valentino: From a sporting point of view he is an asshole and on track he has repeated everything Vale has done before,” Melandri said.

It is known, currently Marquez has won 8 titles in all competitions, while Rossi has one more title. However, considering he is only 29 years old, the Spaniard has a great opportunity to catch up with him.
