After successfully holding international class racing events such as MotoGP and WSBK, now the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit has also attracted the attention of four-wheeled racing events. The GT World Challenge Asia event officially included the 4.3 km circuit as a new venue.

This announcement was made through the official GT World Challenge Asia website. The Mandalika Circuit made its debut in the event, Indonesia will be the closing series scheduled for 21-23 October 2022.

Five series of other GT World Challenge Asia events are in Malaysia and Japan. The opening series will take place at the Sepang International Circuit on 20 – 22 May 2022.

Meanwhile in Japan, the Suzuka International Circuit (15-17 July), Fuji International Speedway (22-24 July), Sportlands Sugo (19-21 August), and Okayama (23-25 ​​September). Only on October 21 – 23, these cars will heat the asphalt of the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit.

For information, GT World Challenge Asia is an endurance race spread across six circuits. In the GT World Challenge Asia race, two drivers in one team take turns to the track to record the best time with a total time of one hour held twice in each series.

This event is contested over four classes, namely GTC, and GT2 is a new category. Others are the GT3 and GT4 classes.

Well, it is not yet known who the participants and what cars are participating in the racing event. However, in the 2019 season, there were a number of types of supercars and sports cars, including the Audi R8, BMW M4, Ferrari 488, Honda NSX, Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren 720S, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche 911, and Porsche Cayman.

A number of racers from Indonesia have also participated in the GT World Challenge Asia, namely Rio Haryanto and David Tjiptobiantoro. They are joined with T2 Motorsport, which used a Ferrari 488 GT3 in the 2019 season.

Co-director of the GT World Challenge Asia Championship, Benjamin Franassovici said he was impressed with the Mandalika Circuit. Yes, apart from the natural beauty on offer, the Mandalika Circuit has been tested for quality.

“Mandalika is an extraordinary new circuit and very much deserves a place in every Asian championship race schedule, including the GT World Challenge,” said Benjamin.
