Striker Luis Suarez has made a big signal that he is open to a return to the Premier League with Aston Villa after confirming plans to spend the rest of his career.
Gerrard himself has made Villa stronger after bringing in Lucas Digne and Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona. Both are being made permanent as Villa players.
If Coutinho is made permanent and at the same time Suarez joins Villa, this will be a reunion for former Liverpool players.
According to the Daily Mail, the 35-year-old striker has been targeted by Villa in the January transfer window.
Gerrard even phoned his former Liverpool team-mate to ask if he would return to the Premier League. But Suarez can only return to the Premier League at the end of this season when his contract runs out.
Suarez wanted to move knowing his time at Atletico Madrid was up and he had to face competition from Joao Felix, Antoine Griezmann and Joaquin Correa.
Suarez was an unused substitute during the Champions League last 16 second leg against Manchester United at Old Trafford. (OL-8)
