Taufik Hidayat is not burdened to replace Simic’s role on the front lines

Young Persija striker Taufik Hidayat is not burdened with replacing the role of Persija’s fertile striker, Marko Simic in the last few matches of the team nicknamed the Kemayoran Tiger in the Indonesian League 1 2021-2022.

“I am not burdened because basically we both work hard when we are on the field,” said Taufik in a post-match virtual press conference that was attended in Jakarta, Monday (21/3).

The 22-year-old footballer said that he felt calmer because he had the support of Persija’s senior players.

They, said Taufik, always give him confidence to always develop from day to day.

“I was helped by my senior brothers to be more confident and play well,” said the player who strengthened the Indonesian national team during the Shin Tae-yong era.

Taufik Hidayat became one of the main choices for Persija coach Sudirman in the attack line of the “Kemayoran Tiger” squad when Marko Simic was decided not to be on the first eleven list.

Since Simic has only been on the Persija bench, to be precise, starting the match against Bali United on March 6, 2022, Taufik has competed three times since the start and scored one goal.

In total, Taufik Hidayat made 26 appearances for Persija in Liga 1 this season, with six of them being part of the “starting line up”, and during that time he managed to score a total of three goals.

Meanwhile, Marko Simic is still listed as the most fertile player in Persija in Liga 1 2021-2022 with a collection of 14 goals. However, the Croatian has often lost his place in the main squad in the second round of the league.

In Persija’s last five matches in Liga 1 this season, Simic did not leave the bench four times and was once not in the line-up. (OL-8)
