Borneo FC TRAINER Fakhri Husaini is grateful that he can still get points even though he did not win against Arema FC in the matchday 32 of BRI Liga 1 2021/2022 at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Stadium, Denpasar, Bali, Sunday (20/3).
“Thankfully, in this tight match, we were still able to get one point even though it was only one. This was not the result we expected because our target was to get three points,” said Fakhri, quoted from the club’s official website, Monday (21/3).
In that match, Borneo FC had taken the lead with two goals in the first half, but was interrupted by a brace by Arema captain Johan Farizi in the second minute and forced the match to end with a 2-2 score.
According to Fakhri, the victory that was in front of Borneo FC had to be destroyed after Singo Edan was able to take advantage of the set-piece scheme in the second half.
However, Fakhri said that his team played very well in the first half, but the consistency in the second half failed.
“In the first half the players played exceptionally well and were very good. We defended well and some of the combined goals scored were also extraordinary, but unfortunately we couldn’t show this consistency in the second half,” he said.
In fact, Fakhri saw that Pesut Etam generally did not play under the pressure of Arema FC.
“The two goals that occurred were in a set piece situation, one from a freekick and one from a corner kick. We actually anticipated this, in practice we did it,” he said.
“However, this set piece is a very critical situation, because the conditions are very different from open play. Arema has a very good executor when free kicks occur,” added Fakhri.
Precisely through that match, said the man from Aceh, he made valuable lessons and reminders to face the last two matches with maximum results.
“We can serve Arema FC when we play open games, but fail to anticipate set pieces. This is a valuable lesson for Borneo FC to face the next two matches,” he concluded. (OL-8)
