Thin win over Forest, Liverpool to FA Cup semi-finals

LIVERPOOL won 1-0 over Nottingham Forest to advance to the FA Cup semifinals at the City Ground, Monday (21/3) early morning WIB. In the semifinal match, the Reds will face Manchester City.

Diogo Jota became the hero of the Reds’ victory through his only goal in this match.

Liverpool opened up opportunities in the 14th minute. Kostas Tsimikasi’s volley flew over the Nottingham crossbar.

The visitors continued to press the Nottingham back line, but there were no goals scored until the first half ended.

Nottingham almost broke into Liverpool’s goal in the 76th minute. Zinckernagel’s tap-in deviated slightly next to Alisson’s goal.

Liverpool finally broke the deadlock in the 78th minute. Jota listed his name on the scoreboard after snatching Tsimikas’ cross in the penalty box. Jurgen Klopp’s squad leads 1-0.

The home team could only respond to Jota’s goal ten minutes later. Ryan Yates headed in from Brennan Johnson’s cross but the ball went straight into Alisson’s arms.

Forest attempted to score an equalizer with time remaining but failed to do so until the final whistle. The match ended 1-0 in favor of Liverpool.

This result brought Liverpool through to the FA Cup semifinals this season to face Manchester City. (Ant/OL-1)
