Three Qatar World Cup spots still up for grabs


FIFA has held the draw for the 2022 World Cup Qatar with 29 countries in position. There are still three more places up for grabs through the playoffs.

In the European zone, there are Scotland, Ukraine, and Wales who are fighting over a ticket to Qatar.

Ukraine’s playoff semi-final against Scotland was postponed until June due to the Russian invasion. The winner of that match will meet Wales in the final of the playoffs.

Two more places will also be confirmed next June. These two tickets go through intercontinental playoffs, one of which is Costa Rica which will face New Zealand.

Australia will also play a playoff against the United Arab Emirates. The winner of that match will meet Peru to seal a place in Qatar.

Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands.

Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales/Scotland/Ukraine.

Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland.

Group D: France, Denmark, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates/Australia/Peru

Group E: Spain, Germany, Japan, Costa Rica/New Zealand.

Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia.

Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon.
