While the removal of this isnt absolutely necessary, it makes life significantly better for one of the bolts you need to remove from the valve cover. I been looking for hours and cant.

But torquing even them is best imho, but anything critical with a gasket that has to seal properly to keep from leaking and or hold pressure it is very important to tighten the bolts not only in the proper sequence but to torque them properly, its also bad in such cases to over. With some bolts its probably ok to guess at how tight you get them such as skid plates etc. I would recommend using oem gasket from the dealer inch lb.
