PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) made a breakthrough at the International Motor Show (IIMS) Hybrid 2022 by launching the Toyota Kijang Innova Electric. The car based on the Kijang Innova is said to be produced in Indonesia.
According to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, who opened the IIMS Hybrid 2022 event and at the same time had the opportunity to try the Kijang Innova Electric, the Toyota Kijang Innova EV Concept Study Car is said to be produced locally in Indonesia.

“This electric car has very good prospects. And like the one (me) is currently riding, this is the Innova Electric,” said Airlangga at the Toyota booth, Hall D, JIExpo, Kemayoran, Thursday (31/3/2022).
“Innova (electric) is a car that will be produced domestically and is fully electric,” continued Airlangga.
For your information, last year Toyota Indonesia introduced 10 electric cars consisting of 8 HEV vehicles, 1 PHEV vehicle, and 1 Lexus BEV for the Indonesian people.
Toyota Indonesia is also developing electrified vehicles domestically, one of which is preparing the production of HEV vehicles for the domestic market to global consumers.
At IIMS Hybrid 2022, Toyota introduced the Kijang Innova BEV concept study car, the first in Indonesia. This study project chose the utilization of the Toyota Kijang Innova, which has been known as a legendary Indonesian family car that has a high local content.
The Kijang Innova BEV Concept Study Car project also aims to increase the capabilities of Indonesian engineers and develop the capabilities of national human resources in the field of electrification.
