ASTON Villa have reportedly prepared a big name for a new coach to replace the sacked Steven Gerrard. Villa is ready to spend big money to attract a coach with a big achievement.
The two leading names being considered are Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino. Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea earlier this season. While Pochettino is still without a club since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.
Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim is also in the spotlight. Amorim became a byword after successfully ending Sporting’s 19-year title drought when he led Sebastian Coates and colleagues to win the Portuguese League last season.
Another option is Villarreal coach Unai Emery. Last season, the former Arsenal boss successfully led the Yellow Submarine squad to win the Europa League.
Aston Villa decided to sack Steven Gerrard shortly after his team lost 3-0 against Fulham in the English Premier League, Friday (21/10) early morning WIB. “Aston Villa FC can confirm that manager Steven Gerrard has left the club with immediate effect,” Aston Villa said on the club’s website.
Gerrard’s sacking was predictable as the club he worked for were bottom of the table and in poor form, with them picking up just nine points from 11 games. Villa are now in 17th place and are level on points with 18th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers. (Goal/OL-15)
