Tuchel chooses to stay at Chelsea

THOMAS Tuchel insists he will remain as Chelsea manager at least until the end of the season. In the midst of Chelsea’s worries, Tuchel refused to leave Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel’s squad lifted the gloom around Stamford Bridge following the sanction of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich with a 1-0 win against Newcastle on Sunday (13/3) evening hrs.

The victory was proof of Tuchel’s seriousness in lifting his team from uncertainty.

Chelsea experienced a financial crisis after the British government froze the club from the city of London. England have frozen all assets owned by the Blues owner, Roman Abramovich, which makes their movement is very limited.

They are unable to sign players, renew contracts or sell match tickets, with their revenue stream being severely restricted.

The German, who led Chelsea to the Champions League and Club World Cup titles, has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Asked about his future after the game against Newcastle, Tuchel confirmed his short-term future.

“There’s no doubt I’m staying until the end of the season. We just have to wait day by day because everything can change,” he said.

According to Tuchel, all he can do is carry out his duties and wait for changes or certainty in the future. Because, Tuchel admitted that he could not control the current situation.

“There are circumstances we can’t influence but it gives us the freedom to focus on things we can influence,” he said.

“This is a big club with a big tradition and there are hundreds of staff, not just the players, and it was important for us to show passion and distract them.”

Tuchel admits he would do anything to be in France for leg second round of 16 of the Champions League Wednesday.

“My latest information is that we have a plane, that we can go by plane and come back by plane,” Tuchel said.

“Otherwise we take the train, if not we take the bus. Otherwise I’m in a seven seater car! I will do it. Heed my words, what I will do, I will get there,” he said. (Mal/AFP/A-3)
