Vinicius Junior Gets Spanish Citizenship

Brazilian player Vinicius Junior has acquired Spanish citizenship. This was announced by Real Madrid as quoted by AFP, Monday (5/9).

This decision allows Madrid to register other non-EU players.

“Our Brazilian player, Vinicius Junior, has sworn allegiance to the Spanish Constitution on Friday (2/9). So, since then, he also has Spanish citizenship,” said Real Madrid.

Spanish League rules state that there is a limit to the number of non-EU players a club can register.

Vinicius, who is only 22 years old, joined Madrid in 2018 from Flamengo and has already become a key player.

He scored the winning goal in the Champions League final last season. He has also played for the Brazilian national team 14 times. (Ant/OL-1)
