We Will Give The Best For Quadruple

Liverpool’s ambition to win a quadruple (four titles) in one season is wide open after winning a ticket to the FA Cup final after beating Manchester City 3-2, Saturday (16/4) night WIB. The Reds courtiers are determined to fight for this historic achievement.

Liverpool are bidding to become the first English club to lift all four major trophies in one season.

Juergen Klopp’s side have won the League Cup this season and they have now qualified for a first FA Cup final appearance since 2012 thanks to a Sadio Mane double and Ibrahim Konate’s added goal at Wembley. They also have the chance to win the Premier League and Champions League.

“We’ll see. We will try to do our best. This is definitely a dream and we will fight for it,” said Sadio Mane.

The Senegal forward admitted that the win was a huge boost to beat rivals Man City in the Premier League by one point in the title race. Man City are also in the Champions League semifinals as well as add to their tight competition with Pep Guardiola’s men.

“Today was special, we played against one of the best teams in the world. To win a game like this, especially in the semifinals, is a big win,” said Mane.

“Every Liverpool player enjoys it because we did the right thing at the right time.”

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp insists the victory over Man City is one of his team’s best performances to win the quadruple.

“Really proud, I think the first half was one of the best we’ve ever played. We did everything right, we scored at the right time. We were amazing. I loved every second of it,” Klopp said.

When asked if the win could be a stepping stone to beat Man City in the Premier League and Champions League, Klopp admitted that both teams were showing intense competition for the title.

“I think Man City knew beforehand that it could be tough against us, that’s how it was between us most of the time,” he said.

Klopp is also reluctant to comment on the opportunity to win a quadruple this season. The German coach even seemed to find it difficult to believe this opportunity.

Quadruple talk, I can’t believe it. Getting to this final makes the quadruple even more difficult,” he said.

“I don’t think we have a full week before the last match day. But we beat the strongest team in the world and it was quite a special moment.”

Meanwhile, the defeat made Man City’s hopes of winning the treble winner this year vanish. Manager Pep Guardiola said he would restore confidence in his players and continue the title race in the Premier League and Champions League.

Guardiola assesses his team lost momentum after Liverpool’s two goals. These conditions put City under pressure.

“Their first goal from set-pieces was incredible. The second goal was a small mistake. It was difficult to come back but they did it perfectly in the second half,” said Guardiola. (AFP/OL-13)
