The Mitsubishi Ralliart team will field Indonesian racer Rifat Sungkar at the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) on November 21-26 in Thailand and Cambodia. In this cross-Asia rally, the Mitsubishi Ralliart Team will use a Triton pickup.
From the Mitsubishi Ralliart Team, Rifat Sungkar and Chayapon Yotha (Thailand), who have won the Thailand Autocross Championship, will drive two Triton rally cars in the Group T1 category (cross-country vehicle prototype). Sakchai Hantrakul (Thailand) will support them with a third car, with a Triton as a support car.
Prior to this cross-Asia rally, Mitsubishi Ralliart conducted a 1,100km Triton rally car endurance test at the off-road Grand Prix Motor Park race track in Kanchanaburi, in western Thailand from August 29 to 31.
The focus at that time was to reduce weight and improve the output characteristics of the engine. The Triton, which will be used for the Asia Cross Country Rally, has improved drivability and allows for agile handling on winding roads.
In addition, the new dual dampers have improved road-following performance and contributed to a significant increase in driving stability. The Triton, which will be ridden by Rifat Sungkar, already has the ability to drive on rough roads.

“Rally racers go through many different corners, one after the other. Therefore, it is very important for rally cars to have the excellent maneuverability and ride that drivers desire, and high durability and reliability on rough roads. Co- a good driver who can navigate accurately and quickly is also important for a successful result. Through endurance tests, we can confirm that the Triton rally car delivers excellent performance in terms of rough roads, agility and endurance,” said Rifat Sungkar who has become the champion of the Indonesian Sprint Rally Championship.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Ralliart Team Director Hiroshi Masuoka said, “We are proud to announce the riders at the Asia Cross Country Rally.
“Rifat has a lot of experience in sprint rallies, so if we do a good job as a team to manage the long-distance aspect of cross-country rallies, he will give a great performance. Chayapon has extensive experience in cross-country rallies and improves every time he comes into the race. in the car, so I expect good results from it. With regard to the Triton, the two endurance tests that have been run allow us to identify the problems and deal with them. We will have a test run in November before the 2022 AXCR, but the Triton’s performance so far looks good and I I’m sure the drivers will be able to deliver a tough and solid performance,” said Hiroshi Masuoka.
